Great Garages

Since the weather finally cooled off in Houston, I was able to help a family organize their garage! This was a three-car garage, so one full bay was used entirely as storage leaving room for 2 cars to park. Garages can be quite intimidating to tackle, so contact me if you'd like some help, just a kick-start, or advice on storage solutions!

Pleasing Pantries

I wanted to share some great before and after pictures of two very different but amazing pantries. In both cases, the owners simply wanted an organized pantry so that they could have better access to and an improved visual of what they have. Enjoy! I really did!

PANTRY #1
(In this pantry, we added some great containers to store dry baking products and small shelves for adding dimension. Containers are great for preserving freshness and quickly spotting what you need from the pantry. Contact me if you'd like more information on the storage solutions that I recommend. Hint: they are not the most expensive!)

Lucky for me, both ladies were willing to do some purging. A great rule of thumb is, if you haven't used a product in the past year, you're likely not going to miss it OR it may even be expired... even if its "non-perishable", check the label!

PANTRY # 2
(Due to the large amount of space available in this pantry, we didn't have to add any storage containers. We simply found better ways to utilize the existing containers.)

Both pantries are built very differently but share the same great impact after being organized.  Thanks to these wonderful ladies for letting me share their photos on my blog!

A Fabulous Closet

This closet is beautiful and fabulous to begin with, I just sorted it in order to make the various clothing types and objects within the storage nooks more accessible. This was so much fun because of the space available for storage, and its amazing that I could contribute to making a great space even better!

BEFORE - Shoes

AFTER - Shoes
Storing shoes in their original boxes is a GREAT idea if you have the space, and a great alternative to buying those clear shoe containers to store them in. I suggest taking a picture of your shoes with each new pair you buy and attaching it to the front of the box. In this case I also arranged her shoes on each shelf by type making the shoes she may be looking for even more accessible.

BEFORE - Bag Storage area

AFTER - Bag Storage area

AFTER - Bag storage (a closer look)
I highly suggest adding these simple shelves to any space, especially closets. They are inexpensive at Target and provide separation and depth to existing shelving units. I sorted accessories and bags by type making it easier to grab and go!

BEFORE - Coats (above) & Tanks (below)
AFTER - Coats & Tanks
I kept her existing arrangement, I simply provided a better view by arranging the coats by heaviness and the tanks by type.  Maintaining the same type of hanger in each space also helps you find what you're looking for a little more quickly so you're not just seaching through distracting hangers.

BEFORE - Overall

AFTER - Overall
Looking into the closet from the doorway you can see how I have also arranged the long sleeve shirts grouping them together and by type (top row) and done the same for short sleeve shirts (below). This also gives you an overall feel for the transformation of the space just with a few changes.

To quote the closet owner "I want you to know that I LOVE my closet even more now! ... Thanks for showing me how great it can be!"

Please get in touch if you would like a closet transformation. I have said many times, closets are my favorite!

Another Pantry!

A friend asked me to help organize the existing items in her pantry so that she could have better visibility and use of her space. Here are some before and after pictures. Sometimes a good idea for a pantry is to add storage solutions within it and improve placement of items (i.e., grouping like items) for convenience. (Pantries are another of my favorite areas to organize!)

Closets and Drawers

My favorite areas to organize are closets! Its fun to help someone "find" clothes they forgot they had and purge to make room for newer items. I helped a friend just with the motivation and inspiration to organize her closet, because she is very much an organized person herself. Here are some before and after pictures!

Sometimes all you need is to have a friend join you in the fun of cleaning out your closet. Contact me if you'd like that yourself!

An email to my friends and family....

Hi friends!!

If I am ever going to get my dream of starting my own professional organizing business off the ground, then I am going to have to take the first step!

I met a wonderful interior designer who, when assiting me with the design of my house, noticed how organized my home was and mentioned how much I could help some of her clients. You can visit her website: www.RefineYourRoom.com. That inspired me to create a flyer and a blog and got me thinking about building my portfolio. You have found my blog and my flyer is in a previous blog posting below.

I'm looking for anyone who needs my services and would like to be the first of my clients! Big or small, please contact me if you or someone you know has a drawer, closet, garage, etc. that needs some extra attention!

Thanks!!

Before and After

I wanted to share some before and after images of my organizing. I've simply taken a relatively organized pantry and stacked and sorted items so that they are more easily accessible and visible.
